Life is messy. At times it can feel lonely. As a therapist, my role is to help you feel not alone. There is nothing more rewarding than being a part of an individual’s journey towards mental wellness. It takes true courage to face life’s challenges and share them with a complete stranger. I feel honored to work with every client that walks through my door. Through my authenticity, compassion, honesty, and humor I create a safe space for you to just be you.

I believe that a positive therapeutic experience requires an environment that is warm, welcoming, and tailored to your unique interests. In addition to a traditional, cozy office, I offer sessions on a semi-private beach located two short blocks from our practice and at Forward Motion Farm in Pungo, VA. The healing power of nature and human-animal interactions are invaluable enhancements to facilitating change. As an avid beach goer and animal lover, I am proud to provide these additional environments for treatment. I am a trained Equine-assisted Mental Health Practitioner and I have 15 plus years of experience working with horses. Visit the Equine Interactions page if you would like to learn more about interactions with horses as part of your therapy experience.

My diverse clinical background provides me with the skills required to work with a wide variety of clients from early adolescents to late adulthood. However, I specialize in treating individuals with developmental trauma and couples in relationship distress. My training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy allows me to provide cutting-edge treatment to my adult and adolescent clients overcoming their past. Through training in Emotionally-focused Therapy and by working closely with Dr. Holroyd as a mentee I have adopted a similar approach to helping couples create more meaningful, intimate, and long-lasting relationships.

I want you to genuinely value and enjoy your time in therapy. This experience is about you. However, choosing a therapist is not always easy and you deserve to feel confident that I am the right fit for you or your loved one. I would love to answer any questions you might have before making this decision. No question is too big or too small! Please reach out through my office extension at any time (757)-788-2800 (Ext. 503).
